CalCare, AB 1900 was reintroduced in the California Assembly by Ash Kalra, assemblymember from San José on February 12th. CalCare is sponsored by the California Nurses Association (CNA). Now is the time to take action! We must tell legislators – we want CalCare!

Our digital billboard truck traveled and parked in downtown San Francisco near the California Democratic Party convention on Saturday, February 21st. Although the HC4US board of directors live in LA County, our members and friends attending the convention and living near San Francisco organized and rallied with the truck for CalCare. Thank you to folks in the photos and our truck’s driver who made this action come alive!

We educated the public, encouraged convention delegates to support CalCare and told Democratic elected officials and candidates to legislate for AB 1900. While campaigning for governor, Gavin Newsom promised to pass single-payer legislation and has continued to avoid keeping his promise.

California United for Single Payer (C.U.S.P.) presents the Health Care Day of Action on Friday, March 20th at the capitol in Sacramento. We’ll demand that legislators pass CalCare, hear keynote and organization speakers as well as Health Care Horror Stories. Also medical mutual aid, videos, music/dance breaks and an open mic.

C.U.S.P. is an alliance of 11 organizations including HC4US, Feel the Bern San Fernando Valley, PNHP Santa Barbara, Fanny Lou Hamer Institute, Hollywood for CalCare, Our Revolution, Educators for Single Payer, Idea Alliance, San Gabriel Valley Progressives, Jewish and Allied Educators for Palestine and the San Joaquin Valley Democratic Club.
