Budget2SaveLives is excited to share the next installment of our Budget Advocacy training series, “Budget Advocacy Breakdown!” This series demystifies the California State Budget process, equipping community members and budget advocates with the tools to demand a budget that reflects the needs of all Californians. Each session offers a deep dive into different aspects of the state budget, including analyses of the proposed, May revision, and enacted budgets! 💥
 
California’s enacted budget is finally here! 🥴 After half a year of deliberations and advocacy, California’s 2024 budget has been released. This 2024-2025 budget is intended to close the budget deficit, roughly $46.8 billion, which began in 2022 and has impacted the ability of key programs and services to be funded. Advocates and organizers have been fighting tirelessly to protect funding that the community needs, and divest harmful funding.
 
This session will provide an overview of this year’s final state budget and open a space for dialogue among advocates from various sectors (immigration, climate, labor, health, jail/prison closure, etc.) about lessons learned from this year’s advocacy and some proactive planning for next year. We will be joined by a panel of budget advocates who navigated this year’s budget cycle who will share their lessons learned and share tips to prepare for next year! ✨
