Hello,

It’s been 2 months since we heard that the most recent CalCare bill, AB 1900 was blocked from starting a legislative journey. Not only did we learn the bill was killed, we realized leaders of the California Democratic Party blocked AB 1900 earlier than they had blocked previous CalCare bills; therefore once again denying time for publicizing the bill, listening to constituents and debating in the legislature. Leaders in Sacramento showed that overhauling the system to improve the physical and mental health of Californians and to decrease our financial burdens is not an undertaking worthy of their time and effort.

Health Care for US, Board of Directors

Members of HC4US’ Board of Directors took a break to rejuvenate and re-evaluate our role. We’re looking at new ways to connect with our email subscribers and social media viewers while continuing to educate Californians about our broken health care system and the need for single payer financing.

There’s daily upheaval in our lives – ICE raids, police violence, increased cost of living including the price of health insurance, the spectre of AI, climate instability, wars and genocide. Some Californians will tune out and limit their knowledge of current events to protect themselves from the stress of bad news. We need to be aware of our tolerance and coping skills. But some of us don’t see turning away as an option. 

The board of HC4US believes we need to carry on with our single payer mission. How we move forward is a work in progress. Community is essential whether we’re organizing in person or online. Let’s stay connected.
